A Most-Special Easter Presentation

Dad and I had a very special treat this past Easter. Justis' church group (New Life Worship Center) presented a Passion Play on March 22 and 23, in Thayer, Missouri.

Now, it has been a while since I have been in an audience of any live performance; but, I must confess (please pardon the pun) that this was an impressive experience! The Director, Kat Kriag, besides being a beautiful soul, has great artistic talent as shown here... Enjoy!

Of course, for us, the star of the show was Justis...

see if you can spot her in the slideshow of the play...

Blue Toilets around Thayer

Dad and I decided to take a ride on Easter day... just to get out of the house. We started northbound on US 63 toward West Plains... As we passed K-Kountry 95 Radio Station, Dad started laughing hilariously....

I asked him what was so funny. He says, "Did you see that blue toilet somebody placed in front of the radio station?"

"No," I tell him... wondering if I should be worried about Dad at this point...

He then tells me that he had heard one of his friends talking about a local prank where a gaudy blue toilet is placed in front of business establishments in town... he thought it was for shaming the establishment for something that it had done in the community.

I immediately thought of Hawthorne's character, Hester Prynne, and the shameful "Scarlet Letter."

I told dad that we needed to get a picture of it... as my friends would not believe such a tale without the proof. We turned around and headed back to the radio station.

I got out of the car...

BACKGROUND
I called the radio station to find out what this practical joke was all about. Jim told me that it was part of a fundraiser led by the Thayer Methodist Church, but that he wasn't sure of who the beneficiary is.

A Momentary Glimpse

Here's a glimpse of a precious Father-Son interaction.

Me: Hey, Dad. Could you take a picture of me with your camera? I need a headshot photo.

Dad: Sure!

(I hand dad his camera, ready for action)

(Dad clicks... hands me the camera for review)

(I look at the on-camera display)
Me: (describing a headshot, putting my right hand, horizontally parallel to the floor, just above my head; placing my left hand just below my chin) There should be no background. Just the face in the photo.

Dad: alright...

Me: Here, let me take a headshot of you. Be still...

(Dad freezes for the pose. I click.)

Me: See! This is a headshot... no background... just face...

(Dad reviews photo... starts mumbling about appearance...)

Dad: Ok! I see! Let me try again.

(I look up... Dad moves closer with camera in hand... click!)

(We review the photo... I mumble about appearance...)

Point of the story: I'm reminded of the adage... "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."

Hehe... I don't think I care for these headshots...
